Set within the 4,000-acre Bowood Estate in Wiltshire, home to the Lansdowne family since 1754, Bowood’s championship course was designed by Dave Thomas and opened in 1992. It is the only PGA course in the South West and the PGA’s official course and academy for the region.
The course winds through some of England’s best-preserved “Capability” Brown parkland, shaped by mature trees and natural contours. Its signature hole, the 8th, Queenwood, is a sharp dogleg with water down the left.
Stay at the 4 AA Red Star hotel, relax in the spa and explore the historic house and gardens. Bowood is part of our Golf and Spa tour near Bath.
Course: 18-hole parkland championship course. Address: Derry Hill, Calne, Wiltshire SN11 9PQ
