Founded in 1892, Royal West Norfolk – known to everyone as Brancaster – is one of the most traditional links courses in England. It sits between the salt marshes and the sea, and at high tide the access road floods, cutting the club off from the village, so tee times are planned around the tide tables.
Sleeper-faced bunkers, firm fairways and the wind off the North Sea make it a true test of old-fashioned links golf, and the clubhouse on the dunes is full of character.
Brancaster is a highlight of our Norfolk Golf Coast tour, alongside Hunstanton, King’s Lynn and Royal Cromer, on a coastline with accommodation to match its golf.
Course: 18-hole links. Address: Golf Club Road, Brancaster, Norfolk PE31 8AX
