East Devon Golf Club at Budleigh Salterton offers superb coastal views that stretch as far as Portland Bill in Dorset on a clear day. A course both demanding and fair, it has generous fairways, but a wayward drive will be punished.
The 5th and 15th have split-level greens, while the 411-yard 3rd, aptly named Pine Coffin, is perhaps the hardest hole. The par-3 10th is memorable, played from an elevated tee across a picturesque valley to a three-tiered green, and the 406-yard 16th starts a downhill stroll back to the clubhouse. An outstanding venue.
East Devon is part of our South Devon Golf Tour, alongside Thurlestone, Bovey Castle, Teignmouth and Yelverton.
Course: 18-hole clifftop heathland. Address: North View Road, Budleigh Salterton EX9 6DQ
