Fulford is one of England’s most storied inland courses, on the southern edge of York where parkland gives way to gorse and heather. For two decades it was a fixture on the European Tour, it staged the very first Women’s British Open, and it is where Bernhard Langer famously played a shot from up a tree.
Founded in 1906, the club moved to its present site in 1935 on land approved by five-time Open Champion James Braid. The course was laid out by Major Charles MacKenzie, brother of Alister MacKenzie, the architect of Augusta National.
Just a couple of miles from York city centre, Fulford pairs a proper championship test with a genuinely warm welcome for visitors. It features on our York Classic Golf Tour with Ganton and York Golf Club.
Course: 18-hole parkland and heathland. Address: Heslington Lane, Fulford, York YO10 5DY
