Founded in 1864, Royal North Devon at Westward Ho! is the oldest golf course in England, and playing it is a step back into the history of the game. It has hardly changed in more than 160 years: you can still expect to see sheep grazing on the links, alongside its famously fearsome pot bunkers.
This is classic links golf, with raised greens, undulating fairways and natural hazards, and it is a genuinely enjoyable course to play. Its quality has earned it many leading amateur events, including the West of England Amateur Championship.
Royal North Devon is part of our Southwest Premier Links tour, alongside Saunton, Burnham & Berrow, St Enodoc, Trevose and Perranporth.
Course: 18-hole links. Address: Golf Links Road, Westward Ho!, Devon EX39 1HD
