Stoke Park

Stoke Park is one of the most recognisable golf courses in England, and after several years closed to the public it is once again welcoming visiting golfers. It is a classic Harry Colt design, elegant rather than theatrical, routed through mature woodland and open parkland with generous corridors and subtle shaping that reward thoughtful golf over power.

Conditioning is a real strength, with greens that are consistently praised for their quality and trueness. With only four tee times an hour, rounds unfold at an unhurried pace that feels closer to a private members’ club. The long drive through the estate gives a genuine sense of arrival, even though Heathrow and the M4 are only minutes away.

Film fans will know the course from the famous match between James Bond and Auric Goldfinger in Goldfinger, and it has since appeared in Layer Cake, Tomorrow Never Dies, The Crown and Bridgerton. Stoke Park now operates purely as a golf club, with a clubhouse beside the practice range and first tee. It works brilliantly as a standalone day out or as part of a London-based golf trip.

Course: 18-hole parkland. Address: Park Road, Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire SL2 4PG
