York Golf Club offers an intriguing mix of parkland and heathland at Strensall, five miles north of the historic city of York. The club moved here in 1904, and the course was designed by the great J.H. Taylor.
Today it measures 6,301 yards, with tree-lined fairways that keep their natural heather heritage. It opens with a fine 436-yard par 4, usually into the wind. The 426-yard 6th has a stream across the fairway and the 466-yard 8th is the hardest hole on the card, but watch out too for the par-3 7th with its pond and the 17th with its bowl-shaped green ringed by bunkers.
York Golf Club features on our York Classic Golf Tour, alongside Ganton and Fulford.
